  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon cold water
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 pinch kosher salt
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ⅔ cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 tablespoon whole milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a mixing bowl, combine warmed milk and water with sugar and yeast. Let sit until frothy. Gradually mix in flour and salt until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface until smooth.
  2. Allow the Dough to Rise: Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  3. Make the Blueberry Sauce: Cook half of the blueberries with sugar until bursting. Thicken with cornstarch mixed with cold water, then add lemon juice.
  4. Assemble Monkey Bread: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll dough into balls; coat in melted butter and cinnamon-sugar mixture. Layer in a greased pan with blueberry sauce.
  5. Bake: Bake for about 40 minutes until golden brown; cool slightly before applying glaze made from cream cheese, butter, and confectioners' sugar.
