  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken pieces seasoned with salt and pepper; cook until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté onion and garlic until fragrant. Add carrots and celery; cook until softened.
  4. Return chicken to the skillet, add peas, sprinkle flour, and stir to coat.
  5. Gradually pour in chicken broth and milk while stirring to avoid lumps; bring to a simmer.
  6. Stir in orzo, thyme, and rosemary; cook for 8–10 minutes until orzo is tender.
  7. Transfer mixture to an oven-proof dish and cover with rolled-out puff pastry.
  8. Brush with beaten egg wash, then bake for 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving; garnish with chopped parsley.
