  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup milk (any kind)
  • 1 tsp milk (for brushing)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (or vegan butter)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • ½ tsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, spices, salt, and sugar.
  3. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in molasses and milk until just combined.
  5. Form the dough into a circle about 3/4 inch thick on a baking sheet.
  6. Brush with milk and sprinkle with sugar.
  7. Cut into wedges and bake for 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
