  • 330 g self raising flour
  • 360 g granulated sugar
  • 360 g butter
  • 6 eggs
  • 30 g unsweetened black cocoa powder
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 90 ml milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 400 g butter (salted)
  • 800 g powdered sugar (icing sugar)
  • 1¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp milk or cream (optional – if the buttercream is too stiff)
  • Electric green food coloring (a few drops)
  • 250 g Orange fondant
  • 200 g Black fondant
  • 1 tbsp CMC powder
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line baking pans.
  2. Combine dry ingredients (flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt) in a bowl and whisk together.
  3. Cream butter until fluffy; gradually add sugar. Mix in eggs one at a time and add vanilla extract.
  4. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture until just combined.
  5. Pour into prepared pans and bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
  6. Prepare the buttercream by mixing softened butter with powdered sugar; add vanilla and green food coloring.
  7. Layer cake and buttercream in jars and top with sprinkles and fondant decorations.
